Sports First Aid for NY State Coaches

Sports First Aid & Injury Prevention – For NY State Coaches

Sports First Aid & Injury Prevention is a special version that is designed to meet the NY State first aid requirements for coaches. This course teaches coaches and trainers how to administer basic first aid to sick and injured athletes as well as ways to prevent illnesses and injuries from occurring.

This course goes beyond what is basic “first aid.” This course contains substantial medical information and teaches skills required for medical emergencies in the wild and train participants to manage acute situations. The goal is to provide instruction and training that leads to better decision-making that can save valuable time and human resources in the event help is not immediately available. 

This course provides essential knowledge needed when faced with a sudden illness in a remote location. Designed for scouts and scout leaders, outdoor enthusiasts and anyone who works or spends time in remote environments, this course teaches advanced skills to be used in emergencies when professional help may be far away.

This course includes in class instruction, demonstration of skills, as well as video presentations that bring home important concepts applicable to sports coaches. Reference material is also provided.  A certificate of course completion is provided at the end of the course.

This is a 2 day course provides essential knowledge needed when faced with a sudden illness in a remote location. Designed for scouts and scout leaders, outdoor enthusiasts and anyone who works or spends time in remote environments, this course teaches advanced skills to be used in emergencies when professional help may be far away.   This course is based on the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guidelines.  The Wilderness course also aligns with OSHA’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs.
